The UGA cotton team is comprised of interdisciplinary faculty members working to meet the research, Extension, and marketing needs of Georgia cotton growers.
Team members have complimentary professional expertise in diverse areas including production agronomy, entomology, weed science, soil fertility, ginning, fiber quality, precision agriculture, crop physiology, breeding, economics, natural resources conservation, cotton pathology, nematology, and cropping systems.
Housed in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, team members develop and extend the knowledge required to keep Georgia cotton stakeholders informed about changes in production practices and policy changes.
Projects and activities are typically funded through federal and state formula funds, competitive research grants, producer-funded check-off dollars (administered through the Georgia Cotton Commission and Cotton Incorporated), and in cooperation with a large number of industry partners.
